H CAHIT GURLEK
The first thing that came to my mind when we say “back to nature” was missing the past of the city. When the idea of comparing the past with the present, the old with the new, comparing concrete with nature came into my mind, it reminded us what we have lost and what we are losing in current and the question “How can I convey this issue much better?.” Instead of purely photographic frames, I wanted to enrich the dynamic transitions by using the technologies I am familiar with. The only thing left was to find old photographs, which were easy to take.
It was challenging indeed to find out the same shot by finding the places that changed over time and trying to cut the used lenses, although the idea of taking the same old picture might seem easy at first glance for the first time. It was the first time that I did the job of making the visuals on the photographs moving by processing them in a digital environment. It was work that needed research and expertise and that I tried to do my best. I hope it is will be appreciated and fulfills its purpose.
Who knows…One day; we might be able to run the time backwards.
